Local Musicbrainz Server

Hi Paul,

I have a few questions regarding a local musicbrainz server.

  1. I have the standard license, is there any benefit for me to create a local musicbrainz server. How much if any of an improvement will I see?

  2. In the offline help files under ‘Local Musicbrainz Sever’ it talks about setting musicbrainz server and setting musicbrainz search server. However in Jaikoz I have only found the first option in preferences (BTW this help topic keeps referring to songkong). Can you please let me know if there is something else to set for the search server?

Thanks for your response!

  1. The main improvement is only seen if you have pro license.
  2. Offline help files are out of date, you only need to set Musicbrainz server now.

However , this is all going to change soon anyway. Jaikoz and SongKong both use my own version of Discogs database rather than the actual Disocgs server, once Musicbrainz is added to the mix and SongKong and Jaikoz updated to use it I will then be making available a new local musicbrainz/discogs server.

Because of this and because It can be quite difficult to get the local server provided by Musicbrainz to work if not familiar with Musicbrainz and Linux I would wait for now.

Sounds good. Thanks for the update.
