Jaikoz Settings Folder

Hi.

Is there any way to move the default location of the Jaikoz settings folder to another location?

By defaul in Windows Vista, the folder is in the ‘User’ folder, along with Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos. Which means it feels a little out of place and it doesn’t have a nice green folder.

So far I’ve just hidden the folder to get around it, but if I make any changes they won’t be stored in the settings file unless I unhide the folder first.

Cheers for any help.

Hi, hiding should not prevent settings being saved, in fact the folder is hidden by default. But where do you think it should be stored, for Windows the settings need to be saved per user for multi-user support and in a different place to the Jaikoz installation to prevent it getting overwritten when a new version is installed. Where would you prefer it to be ?

Sorry for the late reply.

By default on Vista for me it’s showing in the user folder.

But I think it might be a better idea to have it on the Documents folder, along with My Games.

On Linux settings are stored in folders starting with a “.” in front of it. Most file browsers will hide these folders by default. It would be nice to have my settings in ~/.Jaikoz (~/ being /home/%USER%/) since this is the normal approach to storing configuration files on Linux.
