Jaikoz doesn't load APE files

I installed ver 5.4.0 in Win7 32bit.
When I select File Open Folder and I choose a folder that has music files in it the program shows me a screen that says loading songs from file system.
Nothing gets loaded.

I have 4gb of ram 2.87gb usable
What can I do to test the results of the program?

Thank you,

Docfxit

What format are the music files, because as you say Jaikoz doesn’t seem to find any.

The extension is .APE

Thanks,

Docfxit

Unfortunately Jaikoz doesn’t support APE files yet

Does SonKong support APE files?

Thanks,

Docfxit

No, sorry at the moment both applications support

mp3
mp4
asf
flac
ogg

some work has been done on .ape though

I’m using JRiver MediaCenter to rip some CD’s. The default file type is .ape. I guess they determined that was the best file type to use.

Do you have a suggestion as to what the best file type to use would be that SongKong would accept?

Should I re-rip the CD’s in that file type or convert the files?

Do you know of a good conversion program?

Thanks,

Docfxit

That is a very weird default format to use as it nowhere nearly as well supported as mp3, mp4, flac, asf, or ogg. I would probably recommend using mp4, lossy if you need to save space, lossless if not, I like flac and ogg but unfortunately they are not supported by iTunes, iPods ectera. Mp3 and Asf have been surpassed by ogg, mp4 and flac.

Because .ape is lossless you could convert it to another lossless format without losing quality so thee is no need to rerip from CD’s but Im not sure of the best tool to do this as I don’t have much experience of .ape files

any chance of a revival 9 years in the future? just ran into the ‘no .ape support’ thing someone else did in 2013.

if not, no sweat lol. I can research a way to convert it i guess

Yes, it does need to be added, but I cannot say when that will be.

Hi Paul,

Just wanted to follow-up on the inclusion of APE support? Any news?

Thanks!

DSD/DSF support would be amazing as well.

We already have support for DSF files, DSD files do not support storing metadata so we can’t really support them in a meaningful way, we do plan to support APE
