Jaikoz 5.0.0 is now available.
This shall be the final release of Jaikoz 5.0.0 unless any regressions are reported over the next few days. Until it is made final you will not be automatically notified a new release is available when you start Jaikoz 4.6.3.
Please note that the Windows version of Jaikoz now comes with Java included, the 32bit version can be used on any version of Windows, the 64bit version can only be used on the 64bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8. OSX and Linux do not currently include Java, it is not included for OSX yet because that would prevent Jaikoz working on OSX Lion or earlier, it is not included for Linux to give Linux users more control over their system. The name of all downloads has changed.
This release uses the latest Discogs Api, and there are many improvements to the Discogs matching algorithm. There are also improvements to the Musicbrainz matching algorithm, including an important fix for memory utilization. Jaikoz can now get artwork from the Cover Art Archive, this is an online database providing high quality artwork. We also have a variety of fixes and other improvements.
Jaikoz now works with Java 7, but does not depend on Java 7 functionality. When we move to Java 7 newer versions of Jaikoz will only be available for OSX Mountain Lion onwards, if you think it is premature to move to Java 7 please let me know.
Note:On Windows and Linux because we have moved to a newer version of the installer unfortunately it will not let you install Jaikoz 5.0.0 over your Jaikoz 4.6.3 installation (dont have a good reason why), you’ll need to manually delete the Jaikoz 4.6.3 installation first. The good news is your settings are all stored in a separate place in your user folder so they will not get lost.
