"internal name" of Custom tag fields?

Hi there. Jaikoz offers functionality to add metadata info to tracks in the form of custom fields, 1 thru 5. You can choose to have these visible and editable in the preferences.

What I would like to do is to put some info in the “custom 1” field and have Minimserver (that I use as a media server) create an index on that custom 1 field.

In order to do this, I think I need to know the exact name of the metadata field that Jaikoz uses for these custom fields. To be more specific: where, how and in what place does Jaikoz store the info that I put in the “custom 1 field”?

When I fill this field with the text “TEST ENTRY” and use Media Rage to inspect it, this text shows up (see below) but I do not know how to interpret this:

data, +59990, 26/18 total/content bytes
0000: 00000001 00000000 54455354 20454E54 |^^^^^^^^TEST ENT|
0010: 5259 |RY``````````````|

Maybe you can help?

Thanks and greetz, Willem, Netherlands

Hi, assuming you are talking about mp3s because the field is stored differently in different formats.

What might help you is Jaikoz provides an ID3 Edit tab (ID3 is how metadata is stored in mp3s) enabled via View/Show ID3 Tab .

If you look at the Comments Column wihtin this view, and double click on the number to the left of the box you’ll see your custom value stored with short description Songs-DB_Custom1.

Basically it stored as a COMM frame , see section 4.11 of http://id3.org/id3v2.3.0

I have my music encoded as Apple Lossless (alac) in .m4a files.
Can I just reference to this tag as Songs-DB-Custom1 when I want to index it in Minimserver?

Greets, Willem

No, that was how they were mapped to for mp3s (for compatability with Media Monkey).

For m4a they use a reverse dns atom:

----:com.apple.iTunes:CUSTOM1

But I’m afraid I cant give you any advice about Minimserver I know nothing about it, maybe somebody else on the forum does.

I’m going to ask on the Minimserver forum.
Thanks, Willem
