How to add artwork to mp3 without musicbrainz tags?

If I load the mp3 files from an album into jaikoz, and press the “Correct Artwork” button I added to the toolbar, nothing happens. How can I add ONLY the artwork to mp3 files? I don’t want all of those extraneous “MusicBrainz” tags added, which seems to caused incorrect track ordering of some of my albums.

-Thanks

Hi, Correct Artwork just looks for artwork locally, i.e jpeg or png files in the same folder as your songs.

Artwork is added remotely as part of Correct from MusicBrainz or Correct Metadata from Discogs because after all Cover art cannot be accurately determined unless you can identify what song and album the files belong to. Now in Preferences:MusicBrainz Correct:Auto Format, Preferences:MusicBrainz Correct:Auto Format 2, Preferences:Remote Correct:Discogs you can configure Jaikoz to only update the Cover Art fields and none of the others such as Album Name, Artist Name, TrackNo although I would suggest to you set to Update if empty rather than not update at all.

I have everything for musicbrainz in preferences -> Format and Format2 set to “Never Alter” except for Artwork, and I’m still getting the musicbrainz tags below. I’m on a Mac running OSX 10.9.4. Any ideas?

Ah yes you cannot prevent these identification fields being written because they:

  1. Are required for Jaikoz to work properly, so it can identified when songs have already been matched etc.
  2. Make your songs MusicBrainz enabled applications
  3. Have no impact or music players that are not MusicBrainz enabled.

So sorry you cannot prevent these being written, but really there is no reason AFAIK that you need to.
