How I use Jaikoz 5- Auto Correct/Local Corrects

Auto Correct (action menu) is a workflow scripter. Its primary utility is to string together a series of actions for unattended operation. Originally, these were mostly the Local correct options but it is now possible to put virtually all options onto the Autocorrector Task list. Because I prefer Manual correct tags from MB and because the Local Correct options can be problematic, I don?t end up using this.

Let me just comment on the Local Correct options here. These are intended to clean up your files prior to checking them against the MB database. Local Correct will find ?misspelled? artists and titles (e.g., ?The B-52?s,? ?b52s?, and ?B-52s, The?) and impose consistency on them (choosing the most common form found). This groups works by an artist and makes it easier to spot dupes. You can also set rules for capitalization.

However, I find it is overly liberal in correcting files. I had songs by Ken and Kenna overwritten to Keane. ?Baby, I Love You? became mashed up with ?I Love You Baby?. Depending on the size of your collection and degree of initial disarray, the balance may still be positive. But I find the search algorithm is robust enough to overcome such inconsistency. If, in the end, you are going to follow MB?s spelling and style guidelines, there is little need for Local Correct.

Local correct can still be useful in removing extra spaces or undisplayable characters. If you have strong feelings about ?and? vs. ?&?, or ?Lead Belly? vs. ?Leadbelly?, you can remedy that too. I use Track Correct to make sure track numbers always have two digits (09 instead of 9).
