How do you do a Rescan?

I processed my songs and I saw I had a bunch without artwork, but had other metadata (most had a MB ID as well). Looking at them on MusicBrainz I saw they were grabbing Vinyl releases, which didn’t have artwork. I then noticed CD’s did have artwork.

In Preferences under Remote Correct/Match/Preferred media formats, I see I can select CD. Will this force the match to CD instead of Vinyl?

And if so, how do I rescan those songs which had already matched up to a vinyl release and are not showing anything for album art? After setting the pref to CD I tried to do an AutoCorrect, Update Metadate from MusicBrainz, and anything else I could think of. It’s as if the metadata is locked or something.

Note: I do have Pref/MusicBrainz/Format/Artwork set to Always replace values.

Hi,

Setting preferred media format will not force a match to CD but will boost the scores of matches of CD releases so they are more likely to be selected.

You need to uncheck

Preferences:Musicbrainz:Match:Do not match onlne if already has Musicbrainz Recording Id

or just empty the MB Recording Id column

Excellent, thank you! Worked better than what I had. I had been trying to clear out the MB Release ID field and hadn’t thought about the MB Recording ID field.

One thing which would be nice, is a “Clear” contextual menu item for when you want to empty the Musicbrainz Recording Id for just say an album or two. Right now I delete one, copy the empty field, and then paste it over the others.

Two odd things I’ve seen:

  1. On a handful of albums, after an auto correct it wouldn’t show album art, but when I would do a View onLine and go up to MusicBrainz to view the album, it would show one on the top right, I just couldn’t get Jaikoz to download it. Is this because the art up on MB is a referenced URL and thus you can’t grab it (ex: http://musicbrainz.org/release/d32f1f88-5705-492d-8085-62164572482a)?
  2. My Preferences/Manipulators/Autocorrector has Local Correct Year. My Local Correct/Year Correct has Store Year for what the Year should contain. When I run this from the menu, my years get changed correctly (i.e. mm-dd-yyyy to yyyy). BUT when I run an Autocorrect, they do not get updated. Do I need to run this last (or first) in the Autocorrect task list or will this mess up anything else?

Thanks!

Hi, the Delete contextual menu item acts as Clear, maybe confusingly. (Whereas Delete/Delete File is for deleting the song itself). Also you can right-click on column and select Empty Column

Sometimes Musicbrainz links to Amazon images that cannot be accessed via their ASIN, as in this case.

Hi, i think you need to run Local Correct Year after autocorect
