Hi… I have downloaded MusicBrainz Server and installed VMPlayer. I can access the working server by going to http://192.168.209.128:5000/
I changed the Muscibrainz server in preferences to this address but it doesn’t connect. I have tried clicking autocorrect songs and update from muscibrainz server but its not connecting to the vmplayer database. What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks.
help with local server
Did you set Musicbrainz Search Server as well
um… no i don’t think so… i tried following the guide and basically just loaded the ova file and that’s it.
do i set that in Jaikoz or in the VMPlayer?
I meant Jaikoz although actually that option is only available if you have the Pro version.
But which guide did you read, this one ?
Did you create the search indexes ?
well that changes everything… i did not purchase the pro version the other day. the comparrison says
Jaikoz Standard- Use Local Musicbrainz Server Yes, but limited to one query per second
You can purchase an upgrade, but the problem is currently that it is not working at all rather than not working quick enough, right ?
correct, its not working at all. the vmplayer runs fine… i can load it up in a browser
Okay, so I ask again which instructions did you follow, and have you created the search indexes. Would help if you also email support@jthink.net your support files (Advanced/Create Support Files)
so… i have http://192.168.209.128:5000/ running in my browser…
im running all of these tasks now
http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Server/Setup
Hi, i still not clear if you have run bin/reindex best if you send me your support files.
“have you created the search indexes” i don’t think… so, i guess this is beyond me… i don’t know how to do that and have tried finding an answer on the net.
no i have not… i am running bin/replicate now
now… i will run all of these steps on http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Server/Setup and see if this solves it for me.
All you need to do is follow the instructions I posted earlier
except in steps 14 and 15 you are configuring Jaikoz rather than SongKong
“Configure SongKong, set Server:MusicBrainzServer and Server:MusicBrainz Search Server to the same address e.g. http://10.1.1.104:5000”
I do not have an option to set Server:MusicBrainz Search Server
i only have one place to put Server:MusicBrainzServer
Yes that was my mistake, you dont need to setup search server in Jaikoz it will still work.
But you do need to do everything else including step 11, which may well take a few hours
But may I suggest if you have just got Jaikoz why don’t you try it with the default Musicbrainz server for a while.
im running all the commands now… i tried running it from the musicbrainze server and it keeps disconnecting me… i don’t know if its my internet or the server… iam trying to do about 40,000 files and well, if it wont stay connect long enough it just messes up things. it REALLLY slow on the web server… it take about 5 seconds a song if i am lucky and i have a 15mb internet service
- Update the database with the latest data added since the VM was created using bin/replicate now this may take a while depending on how old the VM is. im running this now
i will run this when that finishes
11.Build search indexes, this will take a few hours bin/reindex
hopefully i will be good to go then.
You get errors in Jaikoz, are you running Jaikoz on more than one machine ?
just that it disconnects from musicbrainz… i think its a connection issue… , it not Jaikoz.
