Help! Copy "Artist" in to the "Title" place

hi,

to be fully compatible with Toast Titanium and Disc Cover i would like to copy the “artist” field in to the “title” field… so that the final tag will be:

ARTIST: “artist”
TITLE: “artist - title”

is there any way to do it automatically in Jaikoz?

thank you very much in advance,

Not automatically but you can do it without too much trouble if I recall correctly.

after you have made all the edits and lookups that you want. Move the artist column to the left of the title column. Select both columns, and in the edit menu, see the command for Prepend to Right?

Unfortunately, the doesn’t put your dash in there to separate the artist from the title.

Maybe somebody has an easier way…but here’s what I would do…

find column you aren’t using or don’t care about. Put some funky character in there that would never be in a song title. move that column over to title and prepend it. Then when you prepend the artist it will be before the funky character. Then you can find and replace on that column for the funky character and replace it with " - ".

I’l bet there is some command that makes this easier that I am forgetting.

I hope there’s something more simple … or at least should have!

anyway thank you very much for the help, I’ll try try to see if it works …

Hey wait…I’m an idiot…

I forgot about the spreadsheet export feature of Jaikoz

after you are done making all of your changes, export all the open metadata files to an excel file. Leave the files open. I bet it is easier to do what you want in a spreadsheet if you are skilled with them. Then reimport the spreadsheet.

Couldn’t you just put a ‘-’ into the column you don’t care about, then after preprending there would be no need to do the Find and Replace, (or am I missing something).

Also, note once you have renamed the title field this way you shouldnt try to refix these files in Jaikoz because it will not give optimimum results if the title field now contains the artist field as well !

Umm…I’d like to say there was some reason why I didn’t do that, but I just wasn’t thinking. Too little sleep lately I suppose.
