hang? how long should it take?

Hello,

I wanted to try Jaikoz on misc MP3s (with fully licensed version).

I let it run two days on 1500 files. I cancelled the autotask 26 of 26 after not seeing any progress all day… log extract is below - last two lines are:

and it has now been three hours since I cancelled the ‘subfolder correct task’ and I still have the hourglass of death on jaikoz and no additional log entries.

So some questions:

1 - will the hourglass go away and allow me to save the corrections that have been made?

2 - the time seems very long to write the folders (the last dozen autocorrect tasks took less than a second).

3 - are the additions I made to the default autocorrect tasks (AC #) as efficient as they can be? I started with the default and then retrieved the acoustic ids (AC 14 which took 19 hours), corrected from musicbrainz and then clustered and corrected tags before changing flienames & folders.

4 - suggestions welcome as I have >20k songs and this seems to be taking a long time. machine is a pentium d 2.8GHz, 2GB running XP.

Sorry I dont think it will, I think you may have to start again (but remove the correct subfolders task), you should also enable Preferences/Musicbrainz/MusicIP/Save Acoustic Ids as Retrieved option, so you never have to reanalyse acoustic ids.

This is wrong, somebody else reported this error but it only happened the once, I will look into it further

Thanks for the quick response.

The hourglass is still there and I clicked the X to exit jaikoz. Thankfully, it offered me a chance to save the files.
And I have the “Saving Audio Files” box with “1500 files to save…” message

However, again it’s very slow - 5 songs saved in a half hour? Is this typical? tail of log below:

No, thats very slow !

What is O, a network drive, you would be much better off working on files locally, even if you have to move them over in batches.

O is an external USB drive 500GB WD.

But is it attched directly to your computer or is it on a network. Files sitting on your computer should take about a second per file.

Something is going wrong, can you try chnaging some on your local drive and see how you get on, I will investigate further.

We’re up to 91 songs saved so far!

I’m inclined to let it go since I believe cancelling out at this point would cause it to lose all of the data updates - right?

And it took 19 hours to get the music ips. Is that also a very slow time? What kind of times should I expect for the various tasks?

When this has finished, I need you to try fixing files on your local drive to see if it is the drive that is causing the problem.

This is the installation where 2.2.1 didn’t work & I uninstalled, reinstalled, etc - many times - probably not the cause, but thought it worth mentioning.

Hello Folks,

I’ve got the same problem. (Jaikoz Version 2.9.1 fully licensed)

I wanted to analyse about 11000 files and I had the computer run for about 16hours, but only 5077 have been analysed and the programme seems to kind of freeze. When I stopped the process I was able to save the files (at least that was what the programme said).

Also the saving procedure takes quite long (20 minutes for about 11K files).

Another issues is, that I have enabled ‘save musicbrain ID to file’, but it seems that the programm still calculates an Id for each song new (because I already had analysed about 4000 files before that and the programme didn’t seem to recognize these files had already been analysed). Otherwise there should only be about 3000 left, but I don’t see how I can recognise that on the terminal.

The files are on an external HD which directly connected to a Pentium dual core t2390 running vista with service pack 1 via USB 2.0 - the harddrive is 1TB and brand new.

Can anybody help me on that issue, because I have friends with about 40K files who are thinking about buying this programme, too, but at the moment I can hardly recommend it with a performance like that.

edit: just checked other forum edits and the problem seems to have existed before. Is it a music brainz problem with requests-handling or a programm-problem???

Are talking about Autocorrect here or just Retrieve Acoustic Ids

Do you mean save ‘Acoustic Ids as retrieved’ or not.

If you are running Autocorrecter, firstly Jaikoz attempts to retrive an Acoustic Id for every track. This will take some time but maybe it hang in your case, however you wont have to re retrieve the acoustic ids for these tracks.

But at this point it hasn’t actually matched a track to the Musicbrainz database, (this is the Tag from Musicbrainz option) so maybe you are getting confused between these two tasks

It would help to clarify the issue if you sent me your support files (using action/Create Support Files)
