greatest hits

In an old topic somebody asked the following question:

So, some of my mp3 have “greatest hits” or compilation tags, which I find annoying. I would prefer getting album tags from the original albums, not the “Greatest Hits”. Is there a way to make tags take the oldest album tag from musicbrainz, so that I wouldn’t get any “greatest hits” tags anymore?

This is exactly what I want. At the time (2007) this was not possible. How about now (2009)?

Yes, I am looking for a way to do this as well. MPFreaker (for Mac) can do this for example. Has an option for the oldest album.
