Grabbing esoteric fields from Discogs vs Music Brainz

I have been using Jaikoz for some time, and I’m still not clear on how to run an update which will cover specfic fields. While not truly esoteric, fields like Year and Lyrics interest me as I typically have many files with empty values for these fields.

What methods are people using to run batches that target only specific fields? Is this possible?

Ultimately, I want to run batches and have all the fields I am interested in, updated if empty.

I’ll pull the Jaikoz manual and study up, but I see the Dsicogs uses a Released title for what is Year in J. River and standard metadata for release date. Does “Released” map to “Year”.

So Update Metadata from MusicBrainz and Update Metadata from Discogs both update fields for songs that have already been matched, without trying to match songs that are not currently matched to Musicbrainz/Discogs.

To ensure you get the latest data it is advisable to Advanced:Empty Cache beforehand.

There is not currently an easy away to modify what fields have changed o a one-off basis, there is an issue for this http://jthink.net:8081/browse/JAIKOZ-646

However you can do it in a more laborious way: Preferences:Musicbrainz:Format & Format2 defines how MusicBrainz updates each field.

Preferences:Remote Correct:Discogs does the same thing for Dicogs
