genre doubling up

Hi- strange problem … some of my genre assignments are doubling up:

Ambient —> Ambientambient
Funk —> Funkfunk

I can’t swear that it’s Jaikoz doing it … but I don’t recall seeing the double genre in either Itunes or MediaMonkey -

I just purchased & downloaded a few days ago … did a MusicBrainz Acoustic ID lookup … on almost 10k files … have started doing the MusicBrainz correct - I’ve only saved a few hundred so far … I thought I might figure out this issue before carrying on.

It’s my fault to be sure, I should have RTFM   but I didn’t realize that the ID changes were just pending - so I spent a good day or so making the acoustic ID check & it’ll probably take another day to save … I would suggest a couple of solutions - one, allow id changes to be immediate, two - somehow save the pending changes, so that I could actually close the prog without losing the work -

or maybe I should just read the manual before jumping into a 9000 file read

Is there a way to batch change those doubled up genre tags?

Thanks -

Oh - PS - I should say that this only happened to some of my tags, - & going back over them 0 I see what happened … looks like some of my tags, like the Ambient were doubled up, but prob not by Jaikoz - so the original looks like this: Ambient (ambient) Jaikoz stripped out the parenthesis - resulting in Ambientambient …

small problem, but is there a way in Jaikoz to clean that up quickly?

OK - figured things out -

Amazing what looking at the manual will do for you!

To fix this, I simply Copied a correct tag - ie “Ambient” and then Pasted into all the incorrect files … beautiful -

The bracket syntax is valid ID3 syntax meaning adjustment group it would normally used for something like Rock (classic) , in your examples it should have been used because the same value is being repeated, but I will check Jaikoz is handling these rare cases correctly.

All changes are pending, i don’t think Tag Editor should save changes to any files unless directed by the user. But there are a number of visual cues, modified fields have a different background colour, there is a status column and when you try to exit you are asked if you would like to save the changes before exiting. Or do you mean something slightly different ?
