Find & Replace, Frame Delete enhancements

Jaikoz’s new Find/Replace enhancements are great, so much so that I hope for further enhancements, especially for automating modifications & deletions.

For example, more flexible matching/finding (some wildcards or other expressions?).

I’d like to be able to automate the deletion of frames (including “Unknow” and “Not Supported”) I don’t want, such as the NCON & TLEN tags that I believe an old version of Music Match added to my library. I can already use Jaikoz to do this manually, but that’s too slow.

So, I guess I’m really looking for a way to Delete specific tags throughout my library. Jaikoz is already great for providing unprecedented access to “Unknown” and “Not Supported” frames. I’d like some more non-manual tools for eliminating specific frames.

Also, changing attributes of frames, again automatically. I think MusicMatch also tagged a lot of my cover art as “Other”, so that some apps don’t see it as the cover pic. I’d be great if Jaikoz could find these “Other” pics & replace just the attribute with “Cover”, but of course keep the pic.

This on the TODO list

Is the current mechanism where you can select multiple fields in column, right click and delete that slow ? however it is an interesting idea, would you like to suggest a user interface

This is a very specific problem, I’m just not sure if it is of use to enough people.

I can see this as a straightforward extension of the current Find/Replace functionality. Adding an option to find a frame or element by name (eg, NCON or TLEN, above) with an option to replace with blank value or alternatively simply to delete the found frame.

The more complex extension would be to have the find/replace functionality know the attributes of the more complex frames (such as Artwork or User Defined frames) and allow users to find one of the pre-specified values & replace it with another. For example, finding an “Other” artwork & replacing it with “Cover”). Or, finding an Unknown with a specific Name, etc.
