encoding mp3's with an ISRC

Hi,
im new to Jaikoz and apologise in advance if my question has already been answered but i have been overwhelmed by the amount of info available and have not yet found an answer to this:

im trying to encode a mp3 file with an isrc,which i think i have done correctly? but in order to make sure where can i then check this?
itunes dosent seem to show mp3 files that have been encoded with isrc’s…is that correct? if so,what sites/organisations do?

i have also put the file back into Jaikov and the isrc dosent show,but nor do commercial mp3s isrcs? am i doing something incorrect?

just to clarify,im pretty much asking the equivalent of how you can check that an isrc has been encoded correctly for an aiff file which im aware you can do using the drutil subchannel command in the utilities section of a mac,but how do you check this for mp3 files?

Sorry I dont know, what tool do you use to encode the ISRC and is it encoded into the audio info somehow rather than the metadata ?

hi paul,thanks for your reply…and apologies its taken so long for me to get in touch but,i was under the impression that when a reply is posted id be informed by an email to my account,but i never did.

i have progressed a little since we spoke last,so let me fill you in on where im up to,cheers:

by using the FILE>ADD FILES i enter an mp3 (this has been converted from a wav using itunes) into Jaikoz.Then i enter in the correct tag info(the ISRC being of most importance to me) then i SAVE CHANGES and CLOSE FILES.
If i then re-enter that same file into Jaikoz i can see that all the tag fields that i entered are correct and that the ISRC is present.
Now what id like to know is that if i burn this ISRC tagged mp3 onto a cdr how and where can i check that the ISRC and all the other tagged info is present,without having to use Jaikoz to check this?

If yo are burning the files onto the CR as an mp3 just use any Media player that has an ISRC field, for example Media Monkey. If the file is being converted back into CD format, then I dont know the answer I suggest you post a question on the http://www.hydrogenaudio.org forum

i followed your instructions, by burning the (Jaikoz isrc tagged file) cdr as an mp3 and used Media Monkey to see if the ISRC was present but it wasnt?
am i doing something wrong in the burning process? im using itunes to burn.

i also tried to put the same mp3 cdr into Jaikoz but i couldnt even enter it as i got the message: ’ the following audio files are read only,they need to be set to read/write ’

prior to this, i put the Jaikoz isrc tagged file onto a usb stick and then dropped that into Media Monkey,which sucessfully read all my tagged info,but,i need these mp3 files to be burnt on a cdr and then to be readable on any isrc compatible media player.not sure where im going wrong here? your help is appreciated,cheers,

Possibly I thnk the culprit is iTunes, iTunes doesnt shown an ISRC field within its interface so it is certainly possible that it doesnt copy this over, try using something else such as Media Monkey.

You can’t open the files from the CDR because Jaikoz is for editing files, and it cant edit files on a CDR, just copy from the CDR back to your harddrive in order for jaikoz to open it.

thanks Paul,i followed your instructions above and it all works fine now.
It must be itunes as you suggested.
Could you recommend a media player for mac that has an isrc field / burns cdr and if possible also has a good encoder?

The version I am using is:

Jaikoz 8.3.5 NGS
Build Version 1154
Build Date: 08/09/2015

Problems:

  1. I enter the ISRCs, save and close down but they are not there when reloading.

  2. I am using the Custom Field to enter my mastering credit. I save and close and the following text appears after reloading:

English:Songs-DB_Custom1:

I erase it and upon reloading it reappears.

  1. Considering that crediting the mastering engineer is standard in album credits, you should consider adding a box on the appropriate page.
