different genres on songs on same album

Sometimes when I do an autocorrect my albums will list songs having different genres. I like having multiple genres and all, but I like them to be the same on all songs on a given album. Is there a way to achieve this? I find it looks kind of messy when I get a bunch of different genres spread across different songs that are all on the same album and it is even a single artist album, not a various artist release.

In Preferences:Musicbrainz:Auto Format 2 change Genre From to MB Release Tag then Musicbrainz will only look at release level tags when tagging songs.

Awesome! Thank you. I will give that a try. I am really loving how powerful jaikoz is becoming and all the automation and customization. This app rocks!!!

^— Agree with greengeek, I has strayed to tuneup, but since getting back to DJing (and all the manual tagging involved) I am back in a big way

I guess this is an old thread, but i’ve tried searching for my problem and this thread seems the most appropriate.

I’ve changed the preferences as paultaylor suggested, but i’m getting 2 different genres on the same album, same artist etc.

Everything is the same, except genre, so what should I do please.

Have all songs of this album the same MB Release ID?

not sure Alfg, where do I find this info, i’m a new user and really want to utilise the app, but it’s pretty complicated IMHO.

I’m fairly savvy, just not with music types, but very interested in learning, hence my purchase

So any input is very much appreciated, thanks also for responding to my question.

i’m also wondering if itunes match may have some influence on Jaokoz, like the tagging perhaps.

You’ll find this information in the Edit-Window, columne MB Release ID. If you don’t find it, you can add this columne with a click on the little icon above the right scrollbar in the Edit-Window.

ok, i found and added the mb release ID column and it’s identical (i’m just testing with 2 songs off same album)

so this would seem to be odd.

Album is ’ Born to Run’
Artist ’ Bruce Springsteen’

‘Thunder Road’- Album Rock
‘Born to Run’- pop rock_pop_classic rock

So, take a look at MusicBrainz http://musicbrainz.org/release-group/39b22944-7503-3937-8bba-09b17281cc6a , how many releases of the album Born to Run exists. Click on Tags in the Menu (above Wikipedia) and you’ll see all the genres for this release group, which the uploaders assinged to the albums of Born to Run. You’ll find this information for every song and the genre for the release group and a single title of the album(release) must not be the same.
What genre Jaikoz uses is adjustable in Prefrence-> MusicBrainz -> Format 2  If this works correctly, I don’t know.
If you login to MusicBrainz, you can add a new genre or raise a usage count of an existing genre.
And you used Discogs to get the genre … :!:

You see, it’s not so easy. :?
Sorry, I can’t help you to explain, why you get different genres :frowning:

I appreciate your input and help with this, at least it’s giving me more of an understanding.
