Delimiter used in Grouping field?

I’ve just bought a Pro license and exploring the numerous options in SK before taking the plunge and running against my whole collection.

All my CD Rips are FLAC, ripped using dbPoweramp over many years. Therefore, I have the Style field (that dbp uses) populated for a lot of my rips, but it is by no means complete.

Therefore, I’ve been experimenting with using Discogs Styles to Grouping field option, but noticed that the results are stored as e.g. Glam,Classic Rock. (i.e. using a comma)

I would expect the delimiter to be a semi-colon ‘;’.

I can run a routine in something like MP3tag to replace the delimiter, but would prefer not to add additionals steps.

BTW I’m assuming there is no way to use the ‘Style’ field rather than ‘Grouping’?

Thanks for any guidance
Nick
PS Apols, more queries may follow!

You are correct it is a ‘,’, from memory I used commas to mimic another tool, maybe it should be ‘;’ what is your reason ?

BTW worth noting it really is writing a single values separated by commas, whereas for some taggers the ‘;’ is just a visual representation to indicate that multiple fields are being written, and the actual delimiter is audio format specific. For example FLAC often writes multiple tags with the same name, whereas ID3 (as used by Mp3/Wav/Aif/Dsf) writes a single field with values separates by the ‘\0’ character.

No, we dont yet support mapping to custom fields, although that is on the roadmap

That is fine, happy to help.

My rationale is mainly for consistency.

Comma is used in fields such as artistsort where we know both elements are necessary and connected - ‘Smith, John’.

We then use ‘;’ or ‘//’ to indicate/separate multiple values (I guess there may be more characters used depending on the software).

I realise that this is effectively a text string, but using Style with ‘;’ seems to work well with Roon for example.

Even if you decide not to change from a comma I would at least think there should be a space after the comma - so, Glam,Classic Rock => Glam, Classic Rock or Glam; Classic Rock (my preference). For me the space makes the string more readable.

Hi Nick

I think you are right on both points, I have raised an issue - https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-1872 and this was fixed in SongKong 6.6
