delete duplicates

hi, could someone please explain how to delete duplicate files.

i have set a folder in which to move any duplicates via the options

at first it deleted some files as requested, now after adding more files tom my music folder (from my mp3 player) the files are not deleted

i have tried every way possible to fix the tags, it has done some work but the majority are badly tagged, even as far as the same song having different tags.

(eg same title, same artist, same album, same album artist, different genre \ same title, same artist, same album, same album artist, same genre, different track number)

i have run through the various tagging strategies, saved the changes and then run the delete duplicates, a window pops up with a completion bar, which then disapears a second later.

also there are a number of tracks it will not save due to there being a duplicate wiith the same name.

im running win7 x64, i have updated the java to x64 and increased the memory, i have tried clearing the cache, closed and re-added files, repeated the procedures and still it refuses to delete\move any files.

this is the main reason i purchased the application and so far i am pretty disapointed.

Could you please send me your support files (Advanced/Create Support Files), this might make things clearer, but the problem might be a misunderstanding n your part.

Please understand Delete Duplicates isnt based on general metadata such as artist, album, title but on the Musicbrainz Id and/or AmpliFIND Id being the same. The exact option used is set in

Preferences : Local Correct : Delete Duplicates : Song is a duplicate If

So you cannot delete duplicates until your songs have been matched to Musicbrainz.

ahh well that would explain it, a whole lot of my music is rave style not traditional albums so those methods will not work in this case.
i never expected those files tags to be corrected (although a few were), but
i was led to believe jaikoz was one of the better tools for deleting duplicates.

i seem to have wasted my money here, i guess ill be going back to mediamonkey.

May have misled you here, if the songs really are duplicates I dont see why this wouldnt work , duplicates is not release based. Actually if the songs are sonically the same try:

  1. Changing Preferences : Local Correct : Delete Duplicates : Song is a duplicate to It has the same AmpliFIND Id as another Song.
  2. Run Action/Remote Correct/Retrieve Acoustic Ids on all your songs (might take a while)
    3.Run Delete Duplicates

I think this will for you it doesn’t require a match to MusicBrainz.
