Couple of questions

I have a fairly large ( 500 cd) collection which is tagged OK for Album, tracks, album art etc, but what I’m missing is a fair number of the date and genre fields. Ideally what I would like to do is scan just the dates and genre fields, fill in the blank ones and ask whether to replace if there are any discrepancies in the existing data.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Also have seen some comments that Musicbrainz is not good for genres and Discogs should be used instead??

You can set certain fields to “never populate” to preserve your previously entered tags. Or you can set to “only populate if empty”.

As for genres, i don’t really have an opinion as genre is pretty subjective.

Discogs has better covergae for genres than Musicbrainz, If the Musicbrainz is linked to a discogs release then it will use the discogs genre if there was no musicbrainz genre.
