Correct Metadata from Filename doesn’t work for me. I m on a mac 10.6.6.

You have to specify the mask in Preferences/File and Folder Correct/Correct Metadata from Filename, it is impossible for Jaikoz to guess correctly for the myriad of different filename formats that people use.
This is function only for one scheme. I would appreciate smart detection Correct Metadata from Filename.
I know its hard to find right pattern 
but computer can learn
Yes I guess it is possible to adopt that approach, but can’t see it happening any time soon
