OK, heres what I’m trying to do…

I have a mess (and I mean a MESS) of unsorted rips over the last 20 or so years. Folders apon folders of mp3’s that are mistagged, mislabelled, and just miscared for.

I would prefer to tag them all with the original artist and original album information, and the earliest release year. (regardless of what compilation disc I might have ripped them from in the first place, or how ‘brainless’ it may be to re-group them in their current folders.) I understand this may make for ‘incomplete’ albums, but that’s how I prefer it.

How do I tell Jaikoz that it should prefer information that is 1) non-compilation, and 2) earliest year of release (single or album), and 3) If it can’t find it, don’t do anything to the file?

Selecting Preferences : Musicbrainz : Match : Prefer Original Release even if Better match to Compilation Release
and Preferences : Musicbrainz : Format : When selecting Year and Country of Release to Earliest Release Date

will generally solve 1> and 2>

When you run Jaikoz nothing is actually saved until you elect to save the changes, so you can review the changes made and elect to not save/revert changes you are not happy with.
