Classical Release not marked as Classical

Can you help explain why
Craig Ogden in Concert
is not being detected as a classical album? This is a classical (live) recital album.

Obviously my first thought is that some of the lesser known composers are not in “classical_composers.txt”, but even after adding Armand Coeck and Miroslav Tadić, fix_songs still sets “is_classical” to 0?

Hi, okay seeing an unrelated error that is causing me a problem. Your support files do not contain any log files and I had same problem with another customer last week so i think this is a bug rather than you emptying logs files however I’m unable to reproduce problem.

So can you remind me what platform you are using, and if you are using desktop or webui

And look in your SongKong logs folder, it should be $HOME/.songkong/Logs, if it exists and contains files, zip up that folder and email it to support@Jthink.net

Just received your support files but because of this log file bug there are no logs, so can you email me the contents of the Logs folder please.

Hi, the algorithm checks every song to decide if or not they are classical or not, then if there are more songs marked as classical than not classical the release is marked as classical, or vice versa.

In this case of the 17 tracks 7 were marked as Classical and 10 were marked as Not Classical so it was marked as not classical. This is because the majority of the tracks did not have alot distinguishing them as classical

Recording Artist and Track Artist are different this gives a point for classical. But there are no orchestras, conductor or obviously classical instrument credits. Most tracks do not link to a Classical work type, and do not use common classical terms in the song titles.

You are correct to say some of the composers are not in the composer list, but maybe the easiest solution is to add Craig Ogden to the Classical People list, this worked for me.

Also, I note the release is on the Chandos record label, and this is a Classical only record label. I do have a short list of Classical releases and it was missing from this list but if I add to the list this also marks the release as Classical. However, this list currently only exists in the code therefore only i can do this, so I have create an issue to move the list to an editable file https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-3057

Could you do me a favour please, when you run Create Support Files, after the first stage you can download and view the support file before it is sent, could you see if it contains log files at this point or not - https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-3058

I just ran “Create Support Files” again, and the downloaded support file does indeed contain a “logs” directory with an image of $HOME/.songkong/logs containing the same files.

This was following a logs and database purge earlier today and restart of songkong, so whatever circumstance was responsible for omitting them has cleared. By the way, I did verify that there were previous contents in the logs directory at the time I ran and submitted, so it’s not that it simply did not exist. Sorry that this is not much help in understanding the mystery of the missing logs!

Hmm, okay thanks just received the support files and it does indeed contains the logs now.

Are you using Linux or docker version, it is not clear.

Native linux (x86_64) version.

I have installed in the system as a systemd service (which means that the running instance does not have permission to modify files in the installation directory).

I tried adding Crag Ogden to classical_people.txt but that had no effect. Why would it work for you and nor for me?

Don’t know , maybe not added correctly?

If you re-send support files it will send me the classial_people.txt file so I can check.

Hi thankyou for the support files Craig Ogden is not in the file, did you edit via SongKong or outside of SongKong.

Aha!

I just worked out that SK uses a copy of the original in $HOME/.songkong/Prefs/. I had modified the original in /opt/songkong/. OK, I can sort this from here…
