Choose album with matching track amounts

Just got done running an auto correct on over 20k files. Jaikoz was able to match 1,129 out of 1,487 albums. That is really high as I have a lot of different styles of music and some indie stuff in there. Very impressive program!

I then ran a report to see which albums it says are missing songs. It came back with about 200 or so songs, which is fairly average. Out of these, about half were shown missing as musicbrainz does not have the same edition of the album that I have. Nothing much can be done about those other than for me to submit mine. The other half was jaikoz choosing the wrong release of the album. Choosing an album release that has a higher amount of tracks on the album, instead of the one that has the exact matching tracks.

I have turned off most of the preferences to not prefer release date, album format, release country, ect in order to try to avoid this issue. It would be awesome if there was an option to prefer same track listing / amount of tracks, if there are multiple releases with different tracks. I find I keep getting jaikoz to match my standard release albums to limit release or special release albums that have bonus tracks, so they show up as missing songs in the report.

I would love to see this as an option in the preferences, so I can also turn back on the option to prefer to match to earliest release along with it. That way if given 20 possible matches for the same album, and 5 of them have the same amount of tracks and the same durations, etc, that it would give the highest weight to the earliest release out of those 5 and use it.

It would rock if jaikoz could do this! Thanks again for such a great program!

I remember we have spoken about this before and it is still on the list to consider further but as I said before a release with the same number of tracks will get a boost over a release with not the same number of tracks all other things being equal so I wonder why it is not picking the best release.

Does the matching occur at the first stage Correct Metadata from Musicbrainz.

i.e. Console says:
Match 11 tracks to release x

or a later stage.

i.e. Console says:
Match 1 tracks to release x
Match 2 tracks to release x
Match 3 tracks to release x

Odd. Yeah I have even disabled all the other preferences to help give the exact track listing a higher weight. Some of which I would love to be able to use such as the match to earliest release date, so it would use that when there are multiple releases that have the exact same track listing, if it could work that way. Yet still it seems to pick which release it uses at random. A lot of times even picking the release that doesn’t have a format tied to it.

I almost wonder if there is something funny going on, like by not picking a preferred media format, it chooses the option that is missing the media format in musicbrainz. /shrug.

Hmm, as far as the console message goes, does it need to be an album that is being mismatched or on any album? I have already saved this last batch, so I would have to run the next batch of files to find one that is tied to a mismatched album. If you just need the console message in general, this is what it looks like on the autocorrect:

Jan 16, 2012 9:09:59 PM: INFO: Task 4:Started correct metadata from MusicBrainz on 10 songs

I was trying to ascertain whether it was matching all tracks of a release to a release in one step, or just matching individual tracks to the same release but it appears to be the former which is what you want.
