Thanks for the support files
Okay, if you look at the MusicBrainz progress bar on the Summary page it is split between
-
MusicBrainz (album match) 963 songs
-
MusicBrainz Song Only 201 songs
and 3 songs were not matched at all
Then look at your screenshot we can see 963 songs are grouped by album The Stereo Years and the renaming 204 songs are grouped under Ernest Ansermet:The Stereo Years. So what has happened is the majority of discs have been matched to the MusicBrainz album The Stereo Years. But some have only been matched song only and in these cases album fields are not modified so they are grouped under the original metadata added by yourself before using SongKong , and this includes the album field being Ernest Ansermet:The Stereo Years
Now you may ask why has SongKong not matched al the tracks to one album, I thought it only matched complete albums not discs ?
This is true for albums with fours discs or less. However, for albums with more than four discs we relax the algorithm a little , and if we cannot match a whole boxset we try to match each disc one by one and allow discs that fully matched to be updated. This is because:
- Boxset are so large we have to use an amended algorithm that checks one disc at a time.
- With so many tracks there is a greater chance that a full boxset match will fail (i.e. because a discrepancy between actual track length and what is listed in MusicBrainz).
So what can you do about it?
- Rerun Fix Songs, because 201 of the 204 songs that were matched only have had some fields updated such as Artist and Title so this will increase the likelihood of matching more of the remaining discs second time round.
- Try Match To One Album task, and specify the Musicbrainz url in the Enter MusicBrainz Url… field i.e https://musicbrainz.org/release/a500975b-984b-420d-9efc-310bb275a0ab and enable Force allow low scoring matches
