Best noob options for accuracy?

I want to love Jaikoz but I seem to have spent the last few days getting no more accuracy than I already had in my MP3 collection. Some things are fixed others are messed up after running Autocorrect.

I’m sure it’s me, the program looks great but is there any “idiots” settings that I can use to get the best accuracy, I’m not worried at how long it takes to process but having tried Fixtunes, Mediamonkey Gold and now Jaikoz I’m beginning to think I should’ve just started typing!.

Please restore my faith.

There a re a couple of things you can do to improve accuracy, but because I dont really know what problems you are getting I dont know if they are going to help.

Firstly ensure you are running Retrieve Acoustics Ids (either seperately or as part of Autocorrect) before you try and match from Musicbrainz, and that Acoustic Ids are getting retrieved for most tracks.

Secondly enable ‘Preferences/Musicbrainz/Match/Retrieve extended results for more accurate ratings’

You could increase the scores that need to be achieved for a good match on the AutoMatch tab, and you could change the AutoFormat settings to only replace empty field.

You could also try using Manual Match from Musicbrainz, it would probaly be more correct to call this SemiAutomatic Match from Musicbrainz because most of the work is done for you you just have to select which of the potential matches (if any) to choose.

But as I said earlier I dont know what problem you are having, for example are you getting bad matches breaking previoulsy correct tracks, or just not getting enough matches.

Thanks I should have been more specific.

OK there seems to be various problems but the vast majority are bad matches. For example I have a great album called “Shotgun Blossom” by Snapper which was correctly typed in for each track. 2 tracks were changed either in title or artist to band Red Snapper, a rapper called Snapper caused another track to turn into album “Con-nect” with genre changes for each.

Another irritation is that songs from particular albums are changed to different albums by the same artists eg. Greatest Hits. I know they appear on more than one album but shouldn’t they be left as the original one?

There are others but these are the two most common and frustrating.

I will certainly try your suggestions, I literally just went straight for Autocorrect.

There is a bug in musicbrainz which causes it to have problems matching the title for common connectives words like ‘and’, ‘the’ … if the case of the word doesnt match the case ibn Musicbrainz. This has been fixed but not released yet http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/3741

Looking at the tracklist for the release at http://musicbrainz.org/release/ebab3ba3-547f-449f-8bb2-207f4e7e1152.html I wonder if your problem tracks were any of the following:What Are You Thinking,\tSnapper and the Ocean,Eyes That Shine,Pop Your Top because all these tracks contain words that need to matched case sensitevely. If you have the case is different these tracks wont match and then it seems tracks from another artist that match enough other tracks are getting a better score. Normally these tracks wouldnt get a good enough score to get a match, but it appears in your case this has happened.

I did put in a workaround for this problem, but it doesnt solve all instances of this, and its too complicated for me to explain exactly when it could happen, but I’ll see if I can improve the workaround further.

You could increase ‘Preferences/Musicbrainz /AutoMatch/Minimum Rating required if Metamatch only’ to make it harder for false matches.

It depends if the album they are currently on is found in Musicbrainz, normally they would be because this would get the best score. But if only the wrong album is on Musicbrainz and you want the best match from Musicbrainz then it will be changed.

I’ve tried these settings they have made little difference.

Two of the above plus ‘Hot Sun’.

Another really strange example is from Queen’s Greatest Hits. Seven Seas Of Rhye. This became James’ Born Of Frustration. I can see the link ie. it’s from the James album Seven but that’s it.

These aren’t isolated incidents either, before I started I had approximately 90% accuracy but I reckon I’m now at 70%

So I got in partially right, I dont know about Hot Sun

I dont know

This isnt what other are seeing, perhaps you need to recheck your settings. Unfortunately I cant give an answer to this but I can deal with specific examples such as the Seven Seas of Ryhe example given more information.

If you want to find out why a file is being incorrect matched do the following:

When a track is incorrectly marked as another track, dont save changes instead email me the file (before any changes) together with your support files (using Action/Create Support Files) plus detailed steps to reproduce the problem.

e.g
Start Jaikoz
Open File
Run AudoCorrect

it is important to knwo exactly what you run e.g Run Autocorrect or just run Tag from Musicbrainz.
