Batch changing ID3 versions?

Hello,
I’m new to playing with tags, and am in the process of sorting out my fairly large music library (90gb, ish), to run through my squeezeboxes off of my ReadyNas Duo. It seems that changing all the ID3 types to v2.3 or v2.4 is the best idea - not having any saved in v1, and none with multiple versions, for it to work well with Squeezebox server. How can I do this to a batch of files at once? I have found that I can click on an entry in the ID3 edit tab, version colomn, and a drop down box appears which I can use to change a single entry. How can I change a load at once; it will take years to do each song separately!? I read the instructions, but still can’t work it out, but suspect I’m missing something obvious…

Thanks for any help; very much appreciated.

Two ways

  1. An improvement on your manual method, just copy the correct value from the version field to the version fields in the other rows. no need to select from drop down.

  2. Fully automated method.

Before loading any songs:

Start Preferences
Go to Save:ID3V1 Tag
Select Delete Tag

Decide whether you want ID3V23 or ID3V24
Go to Save:ID3V2 Tag
Select V23 Tag(or V24 Tag)

Now when you load songs into Jaikoz, the version will be automatically changed according to your preferences , and simply running FIle/Force Save will remove all ID3v1 tags, and set/create the ID3v2 to your preferred version.
