After running SongKong, I see the following fields set:
comment[11]: ALBUMARTIST=Sting
comment[12]: ALBUMARTISTSORT=Sting
comment[14]: ARTIST=Sting feat. Anoushka Shankar
comment[15]: ARTISTSORT=Sting
I have no doubt that this is proper, but it seems a lot of apps use the ARTIST field to list the artists instead of ARTISTSORT.
So I get a bunch of multiple listings for each “feat.” item. Is there a way I can override the default and replace ARTIST with the data from ARTISTSORT?

I dont quite get it, can you expand the example to show these multiple featr artists
Sure. Building on the example below, when I view music by artist in music player I get this:
Sting
Sting & Mary J. Blige
Sting feat. Anoushka Shankar
Sting feat. Cheb Mami
Sting feat. Vicente Amigo
which is a result of the music apps looking at the ARTIST tag in the metadata file.
I would prefer all music by String be under “Sting”, regardless of who else was involved in the song.
Since I have no ability to change the music software to look at ALBUMARTIST instead of ARTIST, it would be nice if SongKong would give an option to use the data from ALBUMARTIST for the ARTIST field too.
Hopefully this is a better example

Oh I see, well many players do use the AlbumArtist in preference to the Artist field when set. The actual field you probably want to use is the Artists as this stores the separate artists on the the track separately, so the first value would be the value you want. This would work better than the Album Artist because for a Various Artist compilation album the Album Artist field would have the Album Artist set to VariousArtists, whereas the Artists field stores the actual artist.
But the same problem remains, how do you get this information written to the Artist field ? Well in SongKong on the Format tab there is a Use standard Artist Name instead of Name on Cover option which goes some way towards this but I think we need a new option such Just store main artist in artist field.
In the meantime I suggest you use a tool like Jaikoz to replace the values in the Artist field with the first value in the Artists field
