Artist name changed to cyrillic

I was trying to get information Tschaikowsky Ouverture 1812.

The auto match never worked. Would pick a different CD.

I finally found the MBID information by doing a manual match.

MB Disk ID = d2d13229-c7d5-4383-8e67-05315eb22e6b

I picked the selections form the manual list. Now in the column browser box under Artist I get “Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky” in Cyrillic yet under artist I have Peter Tschaikowsky. See attachment.

Where is Jaikoz getting the Cyrillic name from.

It gets this from the ‘Artist[b[s[/b]’ field (but this column isn’t shown by default). If a song is by multiple artist such as ‘Johnny Cash & June Carter’ , the artist field stores ‘Johnny Cash & June Carter’ whereas the artists field stores two different values ‘Johnny Cash’ and ‘June Carter’ , then both these artists would be listed in the browser separately. This means that to find all songs attributed to Johnny Cash you just have to select Johny Cash from the Tag Browser.

In your case the real name of Tschaikowsky is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky but by default Jaikoz enables the option Preferences:MusicBrainz:Auto Format:Translate Foreign Artist Names into English wherever Possible which is why you see it as Tschaikowsky

But I think the bug is that if the translate option is enabled both artist and artists field should be translated.
