Another allocated memory inquiry

First off I have to say what GREAT software this is. I’ve been waiting years for something like this.

Ok - my issue. Like I said, the software works great, but I have noticed that javaw.exe is pegging out its 256M RAM limit most of the time I’m modifying thousands of files. So, I used the help file “Memory Management” tip to add a -JmaxHeap parameter to the start menu shortcut that I use to start Jaikoz. (The shortcut points to jaikoz.exe and I changed it up to 512M)

No change. javaw.exe is still pulling 256 Megs of RAM. It seems from this:

that I need to modify the .lax file instead?? I don’t have any .lax files anywhere on my machine.

I am running Windows XP Home, 1Gig of RAM - normally a lightning fast machine

If I can’t fix this its OK, I was just hoping I could stop running Jaikoz overnight to autocorrect 8000 files.

thanks

Is Jaikoz actually complaining about low memory or does it just appear to be going up to its limit. Because the way java works is that if it has enough memory to work it doesnt reclaim memory as quickly as it could. You be able to proces about 10,000 records without changing the settings.

That should be correct, but you could try modifying Jaikoz.bat instead

Change ```-Xmx256m to -Xmx512m

and running jaikoz.bat instead to see if that makes any difference.

No that post is out of date, it referes to an earlier version of Jaikoz.
