I have used music brain to update my genre field.however some albums have, say, 8 tracks as ‘electronic’ and 2 ‘rock’ … All other fields are ok.
Is there a way to force album or artist genre?
Is there a quick way to select an album and set the genre to a single value?
Album genre
If all songs are matched to the same album then all songs should be to the same genre. However if before matching some songs had genres set and some did not and in your preferences you had configured not to overwrite genres then genres will only be added for the songs without genres, if indeed Musicbrainz has genres for these songs.
If Jaikoz was unable to match all songs to the exact same album, but matched songs song by song instead then they could end up with different values.
To fix, if you select all the genre fields for songs you want to be the same and then select Edit/Set Value you can enter a new value to be applied to all selected fields.
Does it make any difference whether you select a genre from the drop down list, or whether you simply type in, say, Jazz?
