Additional Tags / Customs actions

Hi,

I’m trying Jaikoz Audio Tagger trial edition (last version).

I have a large collection of album that I have ripped to flac format, that I must tag, to add them to a SqueezeBox Server.

As with Vorbis Comment, same info could be specified with different tag, to cover a maximum range I would like to know if I can add custom or additional tags ?

As example:
Disc Count could be specified by DISCC, DISCTOTAL, TOTALDISCS. So is it possible to create or define two additional tags as:

TOTALDISCS = %totaldiscs%
DISCC = %discc%
DISCTOTAL = %disctotal%

… and when tagging files, matching Auddio Tagger Disc Count info to these additionals tags:

DISCC = %totaldiscs%
DISCTOTAL = %totaldiscs%

to create additionals tags in flac files in result.

Hi, no this is not possible but if you could point me to some documentation showing what is required for Squeezebox it could be added in the future

It’s not your fault:)

As I’m switching between operating systems (windows, ubuntu, macos) many times I don’t really understood on my first tag editing why some album info’s tagged with a software seems to be missing with another tag software (max, tag, easytag, …).

It’s really hard to get same info between each software. After many search I finally found that vorbis comments are mentioned or used in different ways.

I have found here a brief description of tags supported by Squeeze Server:

As Disc Count info, it could be referenced with DISCC or DISCTOTAL or TOTALDISCS and depending on what software you are using may be invisible. Same things for Album Artist, Disc number, Track number, Year, Replay Gain, … (as explained here with different tag convention for same info with album artist, albumartsit, band http://forums.mp3tag.de/index.php?showtopic=10827&hl=compilation)

I don’t really know which way is the easiest one … maybe set all related tags for each infos with some customs actions or to take in consideration only tags specified by MusicBrainz http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/PicardTagMapping as reference.

As your great soft could be used on many systems what about licensing mode for using it under windows, linux and macosx (I’m under macos with the trial) ?

I’m open to any advice.

So it seems it already supports the values that Jaikoz uses (DISCTOTAL) so I dont understand the problem now.

Thx, with your license you can use on any of these operating systems with same license, but only use one concurrently.

I’m buying it.

If I could add some suggestions for next release of your great software it would be nice to add the possibility to

  • remove some characters without replacing them by another one (eg !,? …) when batch renaming file using embedded metadata
  • create cue sheet (.cue) file with all metadata info (+100)
  • MU3 extended playlist (+100)
    as I don’t use iTunes directly because Apple never add support for the great FLAC opensource format :evil: and only inderectly through a forked-daapd and Squeezebox server with Vortexbox.

Hi,

A last question : As your soft support all official tags/comments and all tag software does not use same tag/comments for same information … is there any option to remove all previous and existing tags /comments (keeping only replaygain info) before tagging with JAT (a sort of clean) ?

No, but you can do Select All ( Cmd-A) then Delete (Cmd-Del) in the Metadata panel, and this will clear out all fields shown (which doesnt include Replay Gain)
