Add Remove N Characters

I’m looking for a way to remove all the title number prefixes in my name tags. The filename goes like “01 Songname.flac” and I generated a tag “01 Songname” out of this. Now I want to change the tag into just “Songname”.

A “search and replace” wouldn’t work as there a some songs with numbers in their filenames I don’t want to delete (like PJ Harvey’s “16 15 14”).

Any suggestions?

I read there was a bug no 1247 dated 20/08/08 with the name “Add Remove N Characters”, is this option available somewhere? (There is a script for iTunes that works that way but unfortunately iTunes doesn’t handle flac.)

Any help is really appreciated.

Try to “Correct Metadata from Filename” with this mask:
%artist% - %trackno% %title

if the name of a song is build like “Decoys - 05 For You.mp3”
Play a little bit with the “Rename mask” and read the Help

yeah, thanks, that does the trick. It’s not really an add delete n characters, but it fits my purpose even better as it additionally copies all the number prefixes to the track number tag. One step less to worry about.

Thanks again
