Accessing iTunes "hidden" fields

I have one small issue with Jaikoz that I’d like to see a way to fix. We purchase music from various sources, and for example, Amazon puts [Explicit] on the name of the album or track to indicate an explicit track. Of course, MusicBrainz wants to remove this from the track name, and I have to watch and try to catch it.

What would be even more useful would be a way to access the “rating” field and just mark these tracks as explicit in a way that iTunes will respect.

Additionally, there are 5 of us in our house, and I would like a “visible” way in a column in iTunes to see which iTunes account actually purchased a song. What I’ve been doing in the past was searching for m4p files and putting the iTunes purchaser in the comments field. This is not so easy now that all iTunes music is “plus” music. I guess I could search for m4a songs, but my children ripped quite a few CDs over time using m4a format (I always use LAME and MP3), so it would bring up a ton of songs that need to be checked - but I guess a one time check like that would work, but it would be really useful if we could just see this field in Jaikoz and copy it to the comments field.

Anyway, I don’t see that either of these fields are visible in Jaikoz, and it would be nice if they were.

Am I just missing something?

Thanks.

I don’t believe the purchaser information is actually in the ID3 tags or else I would strip it out of all my files.

I believe it is inside the music frames (they call it an atom I think?)

I’m not sure about that really, because jHymn used to be able to strip the purchaser info - but maybe that’s cause it could access this “atom”? But one would think that would cause other issues.

Anyway, that one might be impossible, and I’ll just have to continue doing what I do with it and just occasionally see the “new” music that is from iTunes and update it.

Still would love a way to do the “ratings”. I think there are other programs that can, but 1) I’ve only done some cursory googling on the subject and 2) it would be a shame to have to use another product when Jaikoz is so cool

Thanks.

ID3 is used by Mp3s for tagging , Mp4 uses atoms.

The Purchaser and Rating atoms could be added to Jaikoz, and they will be - it just hasnt happened yet.
