A couple of new user questions

I have a couple of new user questions - sorry that they are so dumb :slight_smile:

  1. Sometimes when I do a “save” I’m told how many files need to be saved, and sometimes not. Not a huge deal, but it’s nice to know when there are a lot of files to save.

  2. I “lose” menu options, and the only way to continue really is to shut down and reload the files. Since it takes about 5 minutes to reload the 25000 library, this is a slight annoyance. For example, I had a filter on to show only items that did not have MusicIP IDs. I wanted to turn the filter off, but When I went to Filters|Filter MusicIP Accoustic IDs, the 4 options that should be there are not - i.e., the submenu doesn’t open. This has happened multiple times.

  3. Occasionally when I save, I’m told I have X items to save and then it shows all but about 11 items saved and seems to just get “stuck”. It sits there like that for a long time - I’ve let it run for an hour like that - I have to close Jaikoz to stop this. This has happened multiple times.

I think there are a couple more oddities, but I can’t think of them right now - I’ll post back when I do :slight_smile:

The progress dialog only displays if its going to take a while to make the saves, if it doesnt come up you can assume ithere are not many files to save. You can see how many were saved by looking at the console tab at the bottom

Ok, this is a known bug already reported but I have been completely unable to replicate the problem, if you could write exactly what you did that caused it to occur that would be a great help.

Hi, this is also a bug I have seen this myself but you are the first customer to report it. This is high priority but I havent ascertained what the problem is yet.

Thanks - I’ll give that a try.

As for the disappearing menus, I wonder if it has anything to do with canceling MusicIP downloads in the middle. Really ALL I’ve been doing so far is MusicIP, MusicBrainz, etc. So, it’s difficult to come up with duplication steps for the problem, because I can’t really seem to just make it happen at will.

This seems like a likely scenario. This time it wasn’t the MusicIP downloads though, it was the Autocorrect Tags from MusicBrainz that I canceled.

  1. I turned on the filter for files with no MusicBrainz IDs.
  2. I did a run for about an hour while I was out.
  3. I came back and wanted to just go ahead and save what was imported.
  4. I canceled the download
  5. I turned off the filter
  6. I saved the files
  7. I went back to the filter to turn back on the filter for files with no MB ID and the submenus were gone.

I found one funny bit of code which may solve this issue - but not entirely convinced.
