Vorbis tag, MUSICBRAINS_ALBUMTYPE vs RELEASETYPE

Here’s my issue: In Plex, I started noticing groups in my library like ‘Compilations’ where I was unsure if they were actually compilations. I looked into it and I see that Plex is looking for the RELEASETYPE tag. Jaikoz has a Release Type column but after editing it and seeing no changes in Plex, I see that Jaikoz is using the MUSICBRAINS_ALBUMTYPE tag, as evidenced here.

It looks like RELEASETYPE is more commonly accepted and what I need to sort out Plex. Is there a way to work around this?

BTW, in 12.6, with no files loaded, right click on a column header>Select Column throws an “Unexpected problem” error.

Hi, within Jaikoz you cannot currently create custom fields so there is not a way to copy the value from MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMTYPE to RELEASETYPE, but you could use another tool to do this.

Thanks, replicated problem and raised issue

Yeah, Picard uses RELEASETYPE. I’ll use that.
Thx Paul.

Oh does it?

I’m using what I’m using to match Picard so maybe need to change.

Ok so its seems it does use this for VorbisComment/Flac, it’s confusing because its completely different to what they use for all other formats.

I have raised an issue for Jaikoz and SongKong

Haha, wow, even better! I’ll wait for the next update to do some cleanup.

Now fixed in SongKong 12.4
