Genre and Year

hi there,

firstly, I want to apologize - I should probably search the forum but I am short on time and need some help please.

I have a lot of files - about 10,000 or so - all I want is for from the application is to fetch me the year of release and the genre or all the tracks. I do not want it to edit anything else at all. I finally have the file names and ID3 artist and track title exactly. All my files are mp3s only and most of the ID3 tags are ID3v2.3 and a few are ID3v2.4. If I can standardized all of the ID3 tags to one standard that would be fantastic. If it helps to know the end use, I am a full pro DJ.

Hi, okay to standarize Id3 tag before loading any files go to Preferences:Save:ID3 v2Tag and set Write v2tag Version to v24

This will mean when files are loaded they will automatically be converted to V24 when saved if not already V24. V24 is a better version than V23 and is usually well supported so I would make that the standard.

To only modify certain fields add everything to Never modify these fields since we dont want to modify any of these fields. Luckily we have different option for the two fields you do want to modify, set Year and Genre to Replace if Empty or Always Replace Value depending upon whether you want to replace existing value or only add missing values.

Then run Action:Remote Correct:AutoCorrect Metadata from MusicBrainz

Checks the results before saving with File:Save

There may be some adjustments required because im not entirely sure exaclty what you want , but this should be a a good start.
