Embedded album art not showing in JAT

Thanks Paul.

There’s no *.jpg with these tracks. I copied one to my desktop and the artwork still shows.

I’m wondering if Finder is looking at the Album Artwork folder, since these tracks are associated with iTunes? Anyway, I found a script over at Doug’s Web site that embeds the artwork found in the Album Artwork folder. I ran it against that track and brought it back into Jaikoz. Now Jaikoz shows the artwork.

I’m going to have to figure out a way to identify all these missing embedded artwork tracks and run that script against them. The unfortunate thing is that iTunes Smart Playlist for missing artwork does not flag these tracks, since from iTunes perspective the artwork is available.

Can you just run the script against all files ?

Unfortunately, that would crash the script (at least that’s what Doug thinks) since I have almost 24K files to process. I would need to execute the script in small batches.

I’m trying out a program now called PowerTunes which does the same thing as the script (and more). I’ll see how that one works out.

PowerTunes seems to do the trick. So far, 1/3 of the tracks it’s processed needed to have the artwork embedded in them. It’s a slow process since I only have lossless tracks, but PowerTunes produces a log of all changes. But I must say that if it wasn’t for Jaikoz, I would’ve never known that I had a problem. I just assumed that iTunes was embedding the artwork as a matter of course. You know what they say about "ass"uming

In another few hours, the embedding should be done, and I can get back to correcting the tags.

Thanks again Paul for your help and for Jaikoz.

[quote=ScuseMe]I think I found the problem with that jpg. It is in progressive format, which java can’t handle.

I got this pic off the web, so I didn’t do any conversion on it, I’ll remember next time to re-save them as normal jpg’s again.

This image couldn’t be decoded due to a bug in the standard Java Imaging libraries http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6488904. Ive sinced found another library that does work , will be in the next beta.
