Album Artist fills on Auto Correct rather than Artist

I notice that when I click on Auto Correct, quite often the artist name is filled in the Album Artist field but NOT in the Artist field.

This seems odd, in that a compilation then ends up with no artist identification other than “Various Artists” in the Album Artist field–whereas if an album is not a compilation, Artist for each track is typically the same as Album Artist.

It’s easy enough to just use the swap-column function to move all the Album Artist entries into the Artist field and manually correct in the case of Various Artist/compilation situations…but I’m wondering why Artist is therefore rarely ever populated in Auto Correct?

Or is there a parameter I’ve set wrong or can be altered that would let populating the Artist field happen?

Either you have set an option wrong, or it could not actually match these songs to Musicbrainz/Discogs album and just did a minor tidy up based on the existing metadata. Could you run Advanced:Create Support Files and email them to support@jthink.net please.

so I see it is only matching odd songs to albums rather than all songs to an album, and this is allowed because you have unchecked Only allow match if all songs in grouping match to one album

What I canont see is out of these songs how many have added artists and album artists. Could you reloads the files and send me a screenshot in Jaikoz that shows the Artist, Title , Album and Album Artist fields please.

So after running Autocorrect you have

And I can see from the logs four songs were matched to album (rows 0,2,3,5). The Artist field looks empty, but notice the the little box with the number in it to the left of the field, the number indicates the number of values so you can see it is not actually empty in the main table which should be showing the first value it is showing as empty. You can double click on the box to see all the values.

I have replicated the issue and will look into fixing it very soon, raised issue

You are seeing issue because have ARTIST as multi-value

If you remove from Save ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST multiple values as separate fields, then that is a solution (or temporary workaround if you require ARTIST to be stored as separate values)
